Current Projects

Summer, 2013 we plan to make another group tour to Kenya and Nigeria.  We do mission work,  experience the countries and go on safari.

Projects in Kenya

St. Christine School located in Kibera slum –

We are sponsoring Linet to go on to secondary school.  She aspires to be a doctor.
We wish her the best and send our prayers her way.

St. Placida School teaches and houses 400 children, mostly orphans.  Rhythm of Hope suggested  a micro loan for the women there.  This is located in a different slum called Soweto.  This place is more isolated from visitors (tourists go to Kibera because it is the largest).   These ladies are making small leather purses through start-up funds provided by ROHII.

(see examples in our merchandise section).

Women’s Shelter for Sexually Abused – We plan to provide a place for training.

Womans Hope shelter

Helping with AA recovery program for men in the area.

Goats were provided for families.  When they reproduce the kids are passed on to another family, so on and so forth.

Some of our travelers are repairing this fire truck .

Projects in Nigeria

Projects in Nigeria are two fold:

 Solar Power Well

One of the critical needs in local villages is clean water.  Father Joseph Nietlong, our contact, has reported that the Village of Garkawa, was in need of a well, ROHII has contributed to make this well happen. Fresh water is critical to avoid any number of diseases, among other things.

The women of Garkawa will be taught by the award winning Nigerian potter, Levy of Dajo Pottery, Makurdi.  He is also working on a design for a ceramic water filter –  very much needed in the area.  Rhythm of Hope plans to provide a micro loan for this new business.  He has agreed to set up the facilities, the women of Garkawa will be learning the trade of ceramic potterty making.  This will prove very lucrative in this location as well as create beautiful artistic pieces.

We recently replaced the roof for this family's home. © 2009 • Privacy PolicyEmail Us
